This is where to go if you’re getting any electrical work done. All electrical work requires a permit. If you hire an electrical contractor as of 2007 all licensed contractors must be a Master Electrician and carry a Master Electrical Contractors License. If a contractor asks you to take out the permit this should raise a red flag because if you are not a Master Electrician you cannot take out a permit. Only a Master Electrician and the home owner are allowed to take out a permit in Ontario. The ESA web site also has a section for authorized contractors in your area. The ACP (Authorized Contractor Program) is a list of electrical contractors in good standing with the Electrical Safety Authority.
